Camp Humphreys
Anjeong-ri, South Korea
Opened: January 1, 1919
Camp Humphreys in Anjeong-ri, South Korea, began as a Japanese airfield in 1919, later becoming "K-6" during the Korean War after US Air Force enhancements. It was then renamed in honor of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Benjamin K. Humphreys, a pilot who died in a helicopter accident. Today, it's the largest US military base overseas, with a population larger than some US cities, serving as a hub for US Forces Korea and home to the Eighth Army's Headquarters.
