Opened: January 1, 1905
Closed: June 30, 1922
The First Iowa Armory in Iowa City was located where the current UI Communications Center stands, across from the University of Iowa Library on the east side of the Iowa River. It was in use from 1905 to 1922, serving as the home for University of Iowa basketball teams during that period.

The First Iowa Armory was built in 1905 and was initially used as the primary venue for the University of Iowa's basketball program, replacing Close Hall, which was in use from 1902 to 1905. The Armory was also home to other sporting events and activities, as well as serving as a military training facility for the Iowa National Guard.

In 1922, the Armory was replaced by the Second Iowa Armory, and the basketball program moved to the second Armory, which was later integrated into the Iowa Field House in 1926.
